Gold Standard DEXA Body Composition Scans and Resting Metabolic Rate Testing in Sanford, NC — Serving Raleigh-Durham Triangle Area
You're doing the work. Let's make sure it's working.
You train consistently. You make better food choices. You prioritize protein. You put time, effort, and energy into improving your body.
But there’s one important question:
What is actually changing?
Your weight alone can't tell you.
A Bodymass DEXA scan gives you objective data about your body composition so you can see whether your hard work is producing the results you want.
Same Weight. More Muscle? Less Fat?
How Would You Know?
Imagine you've spent the last 90 days:
Strength training 3–5 times per week
Eating more protein
Improving your nutrition
Adding cardio
Trying to lose body fat
Trying to build or maintain muscle
You step on the scale and you're down 3 pounds.
Was the last 90 days successful?
Maybe.
But your weight doesn't tell you whether you lost 6 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of lean mass.
It doesn't tell you where you're losing fat.
It doesn't tell you whether you're maintaining muscle while dieting.
And it doesn't tell you how much high risk fat you're carrying.
DEXA gives you a much clearer picture of what's actually happening.
.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Test
Establish your baseline with DEXA & RMR
Step 2: Train
Follow your training and nutrition plan for 8-12 weeks.
Step 3: Retest
Come back and measure what actually changed.
Step 4: Adjust Make a more informed decision on what to do next.
Instead of wondering whether you should eat less, train more, add cardio, change your program, or simply stay the course, you'll have better information to guide those decisions.
Where do I start ? Book a DEXA + RMR Combo
The Bodymass DEXA + Resting Metabolic Rate Combo gives you objective data about your body composition and metabolism—so you can stop relying on estimates and start making more informed decisions.
Two tests. Two important questions.
Most fitness plans start with recommendations.
Eat this many calories.
Lose this much weight.
Train this many days.
Add more cardio.
But recommendations are much more useful when they're built around information about your body.
That's why we recommend starting with two measurements.
DEXA: What is your body actually made of?
DEXA goes deeper by measuring your body composition, including:
Body Fat
How much fat mass you're carrying and your overall body-fat percentage.
Lean Mass
How much lean tissue you have and how it's distributed throughout your body.
Regional Body Composition
See differences across your arms, legs and trunk.
High Risk Fat
Measure high risk fat stored around the abdominal organs.
Left-to-Right Balance
Compare lean mass between sides of your body.
Bone Mineral Density
Gain additional information about your bone health.
DEXA establishes your body-composition baseline. Now you have something objective to compare against when you retest.
RMR: How much energy does your body actually use?
You've probably seen an online calculator tell you how many calories you should eat.
There's just one problem:
It's an estimate.
Your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is the amount of energy your body uses at rest to support basic functions such as breathing, circulation, temperature regulation, and organ function.
Instead of predicting your resting metabolism from an equation based on factors like age, height, weight, and sex, RMR testing measures your resting energy expenditure through indirect calorimetry.
That gives you a more individualized starting point for making nutrition decisions.
DEXA tells us WHERE you are. RMR helps us understand the ENERGY side of the equation.
Together, they create a much more useful baseline.
DEXA
What do you weigh?
How much is fat?
How much is lean mass?
Where is that tissue distributed?
How much visceral fat do you have?

RMR

YOUR BASELINE
Now you have objective information you can use to better inform your training and nutrition strategy.
Who is this for?
Bodymass DEXA & RMR testing is especially useful if you're:
Working out consistently but aren't sure how much your body composition is changing.
Trying to lose fat and want to know whether you're preserving lean mass.
Strength training and want objective feedback on whether you're gaining lean mass.
Changing your nutrition and want to measure whether the strategy is producing results.
Using a GLP-1 medication and want to monitor changes in fat and lean mass during weight loss.
Starting a new program and want a baseline you can compare against later.
You've already committed to doing the work. Now measure what the work is doing.
You don't need to wait until you've reached your goal to measure your progress.
Establish your baseline now.
Follow your plan.
Then come back and see what actually changed.
Stop guessing. Start measuring.
